LYLE J WESLEY "JUNIOR" CARLTON, JR.

LEBO- Lyle J Wesley Carlton, Jr., 82, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at his home in Lebo.

He was born first of five on June 4, 1934 in Old Strawn, Kansas, the son to Lyle J. Wesley Carlton, Sr. and Wilma Fay McCullough.
Lived in Rural Strawn until 1951 flood. Family moved to Lebo and Junior drove daily to finish his senior year at Strawn Rural High School graduating with class of 1952. He always gave rides to others misplaced by the floods. In his early teens he started driving a tractor for his Uncle Everett Carlton. In high school started driving semi trucks with Vernie Longhofer.

He married Beverly Stallard and raised three children. They later divorced.

Junior drove trucks for Globe Union Batteries living in Emporia, then West Chicago, Illinois and Missouri. Family moved back to Lebo in 1966 when Dolly Madison Bakery opened, driving 31 years before he retired in 1997. His love of outdoors brought him full circle, helping local farmers until his health slowed him down. Junior took great pride in mowing his yard and he could always be seen helping neighbors as well. He also enjoyed planting a garden every year.

He was a 55 year member of the Lebo Masonic Lodge #152, 50 plus year member of White Rose Chapter #297 of the Order of Easter Star and a 40 plus year member of Teamsters Union.

He will be remembered by his daughter, Neva (John) Johnson of Lebo; two sons, Tom Carlton of Topeka and David Carlton of Columbus, KS; a sister, Audrey Coker of Fouke, Arkansas and a brother, Ken Carlton of Lebo; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Derek) Berry, Zack Waldron, Amanda (Craig) Burton, Rusty (Tabitha) Carlton, Deloris Carlton, Esther Carlton and Rod Rutter ; six great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Kaycee, Raegan, Jaxon Berry and Hunter and Gunner Burton and his ex-wife, Beverly Duncan of Emporia.

He was preceded in death by parents and two sisters, Donna Carlton and Judy Bellinghausen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 :00 pm, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Lebo. Family will be receiving friends an hour before service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association and sent in care of Jones VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 W. Sixth, Lebo, KS 66856.
