Lloyd J. Newton

Lloyd J. Newton, 96, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Geary County Hospital in Junction City.

He was born May 31, 1919 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Warren and Laura Jones Newton.
Lloyd spent the early years of his life on farms near Arvonia and Reading. He attended area country schools and later attended Reading High School where he graduated with the Class of 1939. Lloyd was baptized into the Reading Baptist Church in 1934.

Lloyd was married to Iva Aldine Parks in 1942. The couple had two children, Nancy Laverne and David Lloyd. Lloyd and Iva were later divorced.

Lloyd was a farmer for most of his life near Lyndon, and was a well known custom harvester from Oklahoma to Canada.

He will live on in the hearts of his three sisters, Betty Noll of Hutchinson, Kansas, Joyce Jennings of Butte, Montana and Laura Mae Wyant of Junction City; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was especially thankful to his nephew, Dale Newton of Topeka for all his loving care.

He was preceded in death by his two children; four brothers, Edwin, Kenneth, Lee and infant William; two sisters, Ruth Giptill and Rachel Smith; five brother-in-laws, Jim Richards, Claybourne Smith, Arthur J. Noll, Sr., Harry Irving Jennings, Donnie Wyant and nephew, Donald Wyant and sister-in-laws, Helen and Gertrude Newton.
