Kenneth Allen Dean, Jr., 87, of Madison, passed away June 6, 2016 in Topeka with his loving wife by his side.

He was born on July 14, 1928 in Burlington, Kansas, the son of Kenneth Allen and Ermine (Reed) Dean. He moved to Madison with his parents when he was seven years of age. He graduated from Madison High School in 1946. He graduated from Kansas State Teacher's College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army on May 25, 1951. He served as a forward observer for the artillery attached to the 45th Thunderbird Infantry Division during the Korean War from 1952 to 1953, where he earned the combat ranking of Sergeant.

Kenneth married the love of his life, Aletta Alene Alexander on June 9, 1956. He passed three days shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.

He and his parents owned and operated Dean Oil Company since February 1, 1943. Where he fixed tired, serviced vehicles, sold bulk oil, diesel, gasoline and propane for over 50 years before his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Aletta Dean, his children, Kenneth Allen Dean, III, Larry Brent Dean, Jane Marie (Dean) Nichols and her husband, Robert Nichols, Paul Edward Dean and his wife, Kristan and Neil Anthony Dean. His grandchildren that survive are Victoria and Rachel Dean, Sierra and Emma Swanda and Octavian and Tryphena Dean, along with many other family members and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Allen Dean, Sr. And Ermine E. Dean.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Sauder Community Building in Madison. Family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 8 pm at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to Verdigris Valley Foundation and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O. Box 488, Madison, KS. 66860. Condolences can be made at vanarsdalefs.com.
