James "Jimmie" D. Hoffine

James "Jimmie" D. Hoffine, 71, of Madison, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Eureka Nursing Center. He was born January 7, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Clause Leroy and Orpha Dell Taber Hoffine. Jimmie attended Valley Center High school and graduated with the Class of 1961. At the age of twelve he began working at the Goodwin Publishing Co. in Wichita. He later worked as a printer for the Wichita Eagle as well as farming and ranching. Jimmie later worked for Olen Stauffer at Yates Center. He was the owner and operator of the Hamilton House and then Jimmie D's Bar & Grill in Madison for eleven years. He married Sharon Baker on December 10, 1998 in Eureka, Kansas. Jimmie will be forever missed by his wife, Sharon Hoffine of their home; two daughters, Jonna Hoffine of Wichita and Jacqueline Montelongo and her husband Josue of Wichita; five sisters, Rita Cummings, Ruth Ann Bolton and her husband Gary, Rosemary Woodson and Dan Slater, Marjorie Cramer and her husband Cody and Carol Hearne and her husband Mike; numerous nieces and nephews including Christopher Hoffine and Ronnie Cummings; two grandchildren, Sarah Montelongo and Dakota Hoffine; three step-grandchildren, Devin, Ciara and Harley Harris; his first wife Jerry Lynn Hoffine. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bud, Ellis, Ray, Homer and an infant brother, John David. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM., Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM., until 6:30 PM., Saturday evening at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Madison Bread Basket and sent in care of the funeral home. Cremation will follow services.
