Jackie D. Drake, 78 of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
            She was born May 15, 1943 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Howard E. and Dola J. Ellis Freeman.
            Jackie married the love of her life, William “Bill” Drake on July 27, 1962 in Derby, Kansas. During her in death on December 29, 2005.  Following Bill’s death, Jackie moved into Emporia where she remained until her death.
            Jackie was a devoted homemaker and mother to her five children and worked with them tirelessly during their developmental years to ensure that they were able to read before entering kindergarten. She always made herself available to them and stressed the importance of a good education. While her children were growing up she helped them with school and community fundraisers of all kinds. Her family will miss the card and board games that she shared with them as children and her frank, honest conversations as they grew into adulthood.
            Jackie will live on in the hearts and memories of her daughters, Jo (Jim) Morrow of Chaumont, New York, Juanita “Shelly” (Jeff) Lutes of Emporia, Adrianna Drake of Emporia, and Cassandra  “Cassie” (Michael) Dieker of Olpe ; a son William (Kandi) Drake, Jr. of Emporia; 13 grandchildren, 6 great grand children; numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill;  two brothers, Howard Freeman, Jr. and Harold Freeman.
            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Blakely Cemetery north of Madison. Condolences may be made at vanarsdalefs.com.
