Ida Mae Carlson Weltha passed away after a long battle from the effects of dementia. She was with her family and staff at her home, Hillside Village Skilled Care Facility in DeSoto, Kansas.
Ida was born in Osage City, Kansas, on March 3, 1931. She met Floyd Weltha of Reading and was married on March 8, 1949 in Emporia, Kansas. He preceded her in death as well as her daughter-Hallie Jo Weltha Hart, parents-Fred and Jessie Leota Carlson, and 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son-Mike Weltha of Reading, KS; son-Neal Weltha (Connie) of Tonganoxie, KS; grandchildren-Casey Weltha (Beth DeBoard) of Emporia, Josh Weltha of Reading, and Katie Weltha of Joplin, MO; one great-grandchild-Tristan Neal Weltha; sisters-Mary Morris of Rose Hill, KS, June Workman of Burlingame, KS, Sharon Coates, Crawley, TX, Sue Droegemeier of Reading, KS, Jennie Gibbs of Bullard, TX; and one brother-Jerry Carlson of Olathe, KS.
Ida and Floyd lived in many locations in Reading and Emporia, KS. They finally settled in her hometown of Osage City where they lived their retirement years. Ida always worked. Her first job was cleaning a beauty shop in Osage while she was in high school. She also was a phone operator, bookkeeper, and office manager. She and Floyd were active members of the Reading Baptist Church. She also was a member of six quilting guilds and the Osage County Historical Society.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care she received from the staff of Hillside Village of DeSoto, Crossroads Hospice, and Vitas Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial donations to Hillside Village for residents that don't have family support to pay for gifts, and basic needs.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Reading, KS, on February 22nd at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held before the service beginning at 10:00. Burial will follow services at the Reading Cemetery.
