Edwin Linn Puckett, 66, passed away Wednesday December 14, 2016 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
He was born May 23, 1950 in Iola, Kansas the son of Harold and Dorris Wooten Puckett. Ed attended Iola High School and graduated with the Class of 1968.
As a young man Ed worked in the oil fields near Baldwin and later worked as a certified mechanic at several locations in eastern Kansas. After injuring his hand Ed went back to school and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Emporia State University and prepared tax returns for several years. Ed was very active in the community of Madison and remodeled numerous houses in the area. He was always available to help when someone needed home repairs.
He was married to Janice Grogan. They were later divorced. Ed married Carol A. Noel on October 12, 1991 in Madison. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2009. He was also preceded by a daughter, Stacy Puckett; brothers, Jerry, and Gilbert Puckett and sister, Nellie Bancroft and granddaughter, Bridget Smith.
Ed will live on in the hearts of his children, Melissa Silvey of Columbia, Missouri, Kenny Puckett of Brewton, Alabama, Tim Smith of Denton, Texas, Tamela Smith of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Teresa Coover of Olathe and Tommie Smith of Wichita; sisters, Lila Benson, Judy Jones and Dorris Francis; brothers, Bill Puckett, Larry Puckett, Mike Puckett and Phillip Puckett; grandchildren, Zeke Silvey, Ciara Neufeldt, Kegan Puckett, Marie Peters, Timmy Smith, Blake Smith, Jake Smith, Toni Brooks, Tasha Jennings, Tyler Hendricks, Lexi Baca, Jessie Ugelstad, Kayla Coover, Chris Coover, Jennie Hendricks, Tommie Smith, Nick Smith, Alex Smith and Zack Smith; twelve great-grandchildren; his best friend, Carolyn Henery of their home; countless extended family and dear friends.
Services were held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Madison. Reverend Bob Robison officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
