Earl D. Ross, 83, of Osage City, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. Earl Duane Ross was born July 12, 1931 in Rural Harveyville, the son of Edman and Evelyn (Wetzel) Ross. He graduated from Haveryville High School.. Earl served in the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955 as a medic. Earl was joined in marriage to Ruth Morris on January 21, 1956 and later divorced. Earl spent his early years in rural Harveyville then moved to San Jose, California for roughly 10 years and then returned back to Harveyville and worked on the farm. He worked at Goodyear in Topeka for a short period. Then began working at Kansas Department of Transportation in Osage City. Then transferred to KDOT in Topeka as an engineer technician. He retired in 1992 after 36 years at KDOT. Earl is survived by a daughter, Sherril (Terry) Criqui of Osage City; a son, Gregg Ross of Osage City; two grandchildren, Derrick (Jolene) Gragg and Damon Gragg and a great grandson, Easton Gragg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dean Ross. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Mr. Ross will lie in state, Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Military Burial Honors to follow service at the Burlingame Cemetery in Burlingame. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
