Dean Lewis "Jock" Beckman

Dean L. "Jock" Beckman, 68, passed away early Sunday, August 10, 2014 at his home in Overbrook. He was born September 6, 1945 in Odell, Nebraska the son of Roy and Irma Holle Beckman. Jock grew up in Marysville, Kansas and joined the United States Navy when he was only seventeen. He proudly served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk until being honorably discharged in 1966. Dean was joined in marriage to Wanda Ford on June 2, 1967. Together they raised three children. He worked as a telephone equipment installer for Lucent Technology and retired after 35 years of service. Mr. Beckman was a member of the Communication Workers of America. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Wanda Beckman of their home; a daughter Kristi Morgan and her husband Andy of Basehor; two sons, Mike Beckman and his wife Brenda of Carbondale and Todd Beckman and his wife Heather of Topeka; four sisters, Carol Koch of Seneca, Joyce Eyth of Beatrice, Nebraska, Janice Schaffer of Beatrice , Nebraska and Jolene White of Florida; a brother, Wally Ehrhardt of Topeka and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother, John and Rodney Beckman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Grace Community Church in Overbrook. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM., Wednesday at Osage City Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Church or to the Cotton O'Neil Cancer Center and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel at 107 N. 6th Street, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
