Dale Leroy Hellman

Dale Leroy Hellman was born on December 9, 1946 in Eureka Kansas. He was the son of Fred and Elsie Hellman. Dad married Mom, Patricia (Gibson) Hellman in Eureka KS, on November 27, 1970, and made their lifelong home in the Emporia/ Olpe, KS area. They made two beautiful daughters, Shantel Thomas and Cheri Nace.

Dale joined the Navy in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1967. He joined the Kansas Highway Patrol in 1972, and retired after 25 years of service.

Dad was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, and motorcycle riding. His true passion was piloting his own airplane.

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Hellman. Daughters, Shantel Thomas and Marc, and Cheri Nace and Kyle. He is also survived by his brother Eldon Hellman. Six awesome grandchildren-Chaena Dion, MaKenna Lane-Kiefer, Dallas Lane, Justin Nace, Daan Thomas, and Cooper Nace. Also, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved so very much.

He was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters Juanita Christian and Joan Collins, a granddaughter and great granddaughter.

Dad was a funny guy. The one who always made us smile. We are so grateful for the life he gave us. He was a man of honor. A man of integrity. A man of true strength, and stubbornness. Our protector. Oh, how we will miss him.

So very grateful above all else, that he knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. We will see him again in Heaven. He loved the sky and always said if he could be anything other than human, he would be a bird. He is flying high now.

Above all, he loved his family.

“Kansas State Trooper Dale Hellman…it’s our turn now…we got you. Rest easy, we have the watch from here. Trooper Hellman has answered his final call.”
