Corinne Edwards

August 6, 1926 — March 5, 2021

Corinne Edwards, 94, passed away Friday March 5, 2021 at her home in Lebo, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 6, 1926 at Barnes Hospital in Osage City, the daughter of Walter and Marion Mae Jones Peterson.
Corinne grew up in the Pant Teg (Welsh for Valley Pleasant) school and Mt. Herman Church area southeast of Osage City. A community of rich heritage for Corinne. The school was established by her maternal great-grandparents and other settlers. The church was organized by her paternal grandparents and other community members. She attended the Pant Teg School all of her elementary years, attending one year of high school in Osage City. Corinne would go on to graduate from Lyndon High school with the Class of 1944. She went through high school working for room and board as many others at that time.
Corinne was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers; her sister, Erna Anderson in 2014 and brother Marvin Peterson in 1996.
Corinne married the love of her life, Donald Edwards on April 16, 1948 in Lyndon, Kansas. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage before Don’s death on July 3, 2001. Together they made their home on the Edward’s family farm northeast of Lebo. There they raised their only daughter, Marilyn Jean. Marilyn and her husband Jim continue to enjoy living on the family farm that was established in 1925.
Corinne has made her home in Lebo for the past 20 years. She and Don were members of the Lebo Baptist Church, joining in 1949. At the time of her death, Corinne was the oldest member of the church. She was active in her faith, having held many offices in the Baptist Women’s groups. She participated in the church choir and prepared the church bulletins for 14 years and wrote the church history book for their centennial celebration.
Besides being a member of several community afternoon clubs, she sang with the Choraliers for a number of years. Corinne enjoyed serving as an Avon Lady for several years and was a member of the planning committee for the Lebo City Centennial Celebration in 1986. She enjoyed her role as homemaker, farm wife and mother. Her hobbies included raising flowers, crocheting and sewing. She enjoyed collecting thimbles and sharing her collection with others.
