Carlene Marie Parks

Carlene Marie Parks, 75, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Peterson's Health Care in Osage City. ��Carlene was born July 15, 1940 in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Frank Fred and Matilda Vohs Burenheide. She attended Emporia High School and graduated with the Class of 1958. After high school Carlene took a job with the City of Emporia as a clerk and bookkeeper. Carlene was joined in marriage to Paul Parks on July 3, 1961 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. The young couple soon made their home on a farm southwest of Miller. Carlene worked hand in hand with her husband as well as keeping the books for their farm. She will forever be remembered by her husband of 54 years, Paul of their home; a daughter, Teresa Torrey of Manhattan, Kansas; a son, Doug (Gloria) Parks of Kansas City, Mo.; a twin sister, Arlene (Ron) Gant of Eureka; a sister, Joyce Hooper of Edna, Kansas; brothers Roy Burenheide of Emporia, Don (Jene) Burenheide of Emporia and Gary (Janet) Burenheide of Emporia; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; Jennifer Marie and Jacob Avery. ��Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Burial will follow services at Osage City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
