Brian Douglas Smith

Brian Douglas Smith, 74, passed away, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Kanas City, Missouri.

He was born March 2, 1942 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of John J. and Vesta L. Windsor Smith. Brian attended Emporia High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. He choose to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force on April 25, 1961. He received an honorable discharge after seven years of proud service.

In 1968 Brian began working as a radar installation specialist for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington. He went on to work as a computer programmer at Pacific Northwest Bell from 1972 until his retirement in 1989.During his employment there Brian was recognized as being made a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Brian moved to Lebo in 1992 and soon began a new chapter in his life. He was forever joined in marriage to Sandy Elizabeth Prevatt on October 5, 1994 at the Lebo United Methodist Church.

Brian was devoted member of the Lebo United Methodist Church and the Lebo American Legion Post #323.

Brian lives on in the hearts of his wife, Sandy Smith of their home; daughter, Julia Ann Butler of Mt. Lake Terrace, Washington; son, Dru Foster Smith of Belleview, Washington; step daughters, Rhonda Ellis of Charlotte, North Carolina and Jackie Deese of Wilmington, North Carolina; sisters, Nyla J. Smith Shaner of Lebo and Peggy Lynn Brewer of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.
