Brian Douglas Hind, 49, of Madison, Kansas passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia. He was born May 7, 1968 in Emporia, Kansas the son of James and Carol Beemer Hind. Brian attended Madison High School and graduated with the Class of 1986. While still in High School, Brian took Vo. Ag. Courses through the Flint Hills Vo. Tech., where he was recognized as the “Outstanding Ag. Student” of his class. He would go on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University. Brian used his love for agriculture and strong sense of community to guide him throughout his life. He served on the Madison Fire Department for decades as well as serving on the Madison Township for many years. Brian also served two terms on the District #386 School Board and was currently serving his second term as a Greenwood County Commissioner. In addition, Brian wrote a column for the British publication “Farmers Weekly”. Brian married the love of his life, Amy K. Prather on June 23, 2007 in Madison, Kansas He will live on in the hearts of his wife, Amy of their home in Madison; a son, Nathan William Hind of the home; his parents, Jim and Carol Hind of Madison; a brother, Michael A. Hind and his wife Melinda of Lincoln, Nebraska; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Megan Rauschenberger of Kodiak, Alaska; three nieces and one nephew; numerous extended family and countless dear friends. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Madison High School. Burial will follow services at Blakely Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Madison from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Fire Department and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Home at P.O. Box #488, Madison, Kansas 66860.
